How to write a love poem, the *Grief-IS-Love poetry workshop.

Grief is love trying to find a home.

Honour the love you hold in grief through poetry in this soul-nourishing workshop. We'll make a poem for our grief & honour the loved ones we've lost through the therapeutic power of poetry.

Birmingham Sat12th Feb 2022
14:00 - 16.30 @ Midlands Arts Centre Birmingham.

1 workshop of 3 for our Season of Love.
I
Self-Love Poetry Session,
II
Grief-IS-Love Poetry Session,
III
Lovers & Friends Poetry Workshop.

Making a home for your grief with poetry. An alternative Valentine experience.

We'll begin the workshop with a heart-opening exercise and free-flow self-writing to witness our grief, feel its presence and reconnect with the love we hold in our hearts.

We'll continue by inviting the healing energy of love to respond to a collection of writing prompts that give our grief a voice through metaphor and story.

We'll explore the love we had, the joys we've shared, our desire and the lessons we've received in the guise of grief to deepen our awareness of the love in our hearts in all its beauty and complexity.

Next, we'll read contemporary poetry on loss and life and write responses that reflect on our individual experiences of grief. Our writings will then pour into a poem as an act of self-love.

In the second part of the workshop, we'll edit our poems into works of art and mount them into frames as a gift to ourselves this love season. There are no rules in this workshop. Though there are poetry forms, all poems are welcome here, whether mantras, reminders, interpretations, sonnets, statements, lyrics or letters.

The workshop includes feel good energy, guided meditations, free flow writing, intention setting, poetry prompts, biblio-poetry therapy, art supplies, frames, connection, refreshments & soundscapes inspired by the heart.
